Tayseer Khaled : Calls for Civil Disobedience in Occupied East Jerusalem
Tayseer Khaled, member of the executive committee of the PLO , member of the Politbureao of the Democratic Front ( DFLP ) called on all political and social forces and national and spiritual figures in the occupied East Jerusalem to begin a wide national dialogue on ways to confront the violations and the crimes committed by the Israeli authorities and the municipality of the city of Jerusalem, beginning with policy of deportation , demolition of homes of Jerusalemites, and ending with the confiscation of land and burglary of citizens' property and their deportation from their homes to replace the Zionist settlers .
This came in the context of the response to the plans of the occupation aimed at completing the settlement belt around the Old City of Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque on both sides of the South and the North, and the ongoing collusion between the judicial apparatus of the state with the settler gangs and the approval of the so-called Supreme Court of Israel on the largest settlement projects in Sheikh Jarrah in occupied Jerusalem , rejecting the appeal by Palestinian families on the decision to confiscate their lands and homes, and to resort to the law "Absentee Property", which states that the property belonged to the Palestinians before 1948 extracted forever, unlike Jewish property, and they have no right according to the racist Israeli laws to return to it , In order to build settlement in a largest uprooting and displacement that has been taking place in the city since the Palestinian Nakba , especially after allowing the "Ateret Cohnim" settlement association and giving it the legal cover to continue the expulsion of 700 Palestinians, claiming that their homes were built on land owned by Jews before the Nakba of the Palestinian people in 1948
Tayseer Khalid stressed the urgent national need and necessity for such dialogue in order to prepare a civil disobedience gathering all the citizens of East Jerusalem, inspired by the experience of the national epic that the city's masses organized in the battle of gates in July last year, in which it affirmed its ability to thwart the plans of Judaization, ethnic cleansing, and the experience of boycotting municipal and local elections, boycotted by the masses of Jerusalem, stressing the Arab identity of East Jerusalem and the need to return to Palestinian sovereignty, as the capital of the state of Palestine, and transfer the crimes of occupation in the occupied city of Jerusalem to all international forums, starting with the UN Security Council , the International Criminal Court and the United Nations General Assembly, which should be invited without hesitation to consider these crimes under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations.
